TA: You neglected a couple of items in your otherwise brilliant synopsis -- all of the concerted efforts of Bill Clinton and his supporters in the media creates an echo effect in the polls: the media tells the sheeple that everything is great and the sheeple respond "everything is great!" and, of course, they say the "country is headed in the right direction". And Bubba has the opportunity to use the bully pulpit (State of the Union Address) to spew 77 minutes of poll-tested sound-bites and programs that resurrect the era of big government, have no chance of being passed, but sounds great to every constituency-group in the country (because they were the focus-group that generated the sound-bite in the first place).

Some might call this a vast left-wing conspiracy... For your consideration only.
