Compaq Computer Corporation Schedules News Conference at 10:00 a.m.

Compaq Computer Corporation will hold a news conference from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., EST, Tues., Jan. 26, to announce the company's Internet strategy for
AltaVista.
Eckhard Pfeiffer, Compaq President and Chief Executive Officer, will be joined by Rod Schrock, Compaq Senior Vice President, Consumer Products Group, to
make the announcement, which will be followed by a question and answer session. Members of the media and analyst communities are invited to remain for lunch,
which will be served starting at 11:00 a.m.
The conference will be held at The Equitable Building, 787 Seventh Avenue in New York City.
