If not, you register both platforms with those you want to do business with, and both will be recognized as trusted agents for a transaction.

And if someone else logs onto my work machine while I'm not there, say because I logged off or they reboot the machine, then they have my recognized trusted agent for access to that site?

Worse than useless.
