Why should they be so hungry for a victory?;
I thought more about why the Radicals would bust a gut to get Clinton out of office, regardless of what it does to the republican party. I think it may have to do with the logjam of court appointments. The Senate just can't hold them up much longer and they are going to have to approve some federal judges. If they can cause a change of government, even to Al Gore, the appointments can all be dumped and Al Gore will need to start over, and maybe they can stall for 2 more years.
