But that is the ultimate question.. Do people keep buying more disks or do they re-use old ones?

Your point about 7% of PCs including ZIPs (therefore suggesting large market potential) is a good one, but I respectfully disagree. To take the other 93% they need to give away the drives... It's price that's the prohibiting factor.
