In so doing, we avoid downloading all the documents from a Web site, an activity that burdens network traffic, and we provide the individual web site with search technology for site visitors." ie - "we provide the individual web site with search technology for site visitors." ie - it won't be searching the whole web or even 1/1000th of it - since all the web servers would have to have the software installed on it. The problem is - each web site has to run it's own "gatherer" How many web sites do you know of would go to the trouble (much less know about) the correct gatherer software to implement (in this case - Wordcruncher's proprietary version) What's the incentive to bog down your server with extra traffic generated by the software? This Harvest thing has been around for a number of years for free download… tardis.ed.ac.uk www-search.anglia.ac.uk:8080/ Looks like a good product - but it will have limited scalability & thus revenue IMHO.
