John I dont disagree about Boxer. Shes unpopular. But where did you read that it was her negative ads that put her over the top. Sounds like republican rhetoric to me. Fong also had negative ads - I saw them both, and we all know there are lots of negatives on Boxer.

The reason Boxer won and Fong lost is because Californians dont like Repbublicans! They dont like this impeachment thing, they dont like the RR and they are not going to vote for anybody that is anti-abortion - period! All this negative ad baloney and blaming Fong and Lungrens results on the campaign... denial.

Marketplace did a piece on the image in republicans in Ca that was pretty accurate - someone said republicans fall into 2 camps 1) old curmudgeons (sp?) that are living in the past and have no clue, or 2) right wing religious zealots that advocate shooting anybody that doesnt believe in their agenda. During the same piece the GOP HQ was interviewed and they once again blamed their problems on the "campaign".
