There are still a lot of questions to be answered about the proposed software fix by Intel.

1. How permanent is permanently turned off? Can it be turned back on?

2. If the ID is implemented in an EEPROM as Paul says, will the software patch provide hackers a security hole?

3. What are the consequences with software vendors for turning off your PIII ID feature?

I have a feeling that Intel is trying to have it both ways with this, and it isn't going to work.
