drbes,

I can't recall which analyst it was, but one did suggest asps were going to be much less than the 3rd qtr. I believe it was the same one who broke the news that 5.5 mil chips were sold (sellout?). They surely could have made an official announcement of sub $100 (actually sub $90) asps, but sticking with their policy of keeping everyone in the dark, chose not to. I feel they may have slightly tanked the qtr purposely in order to guarantee sequential earnings growth into the first qtr. Had they came out with .30 and followed it up with only .20, the carnage may have been worse. If I've learned one thing from this company it is to keep on an even keel. Don't allow yourself to get too high nor too low. With Raza in charge of day to day operations I honestly feel they're on the right track. Their execution in the cpu segment has been incredible. Even the intel guys have to admit a sixfold increase in one year is impressive.
I would have loved to have been a fly on intc's wall this morning when the calls from dell and gtwy about the boycott came in. That sure made them change their tune quick. That's the beauty of amd, its all about a realistic choice. Aloha

Btw, just what is a nit-picking twit. Do they smell strange, cause I've noticed a strange smell on this board lately.
