After the last few days,....Westell in my opinion should focus on becoming an ADSL service/consulting company, and keep their core TAP business and Conference plus going strong,....the only profitable parts of the company. MZ hinted this in the October 98 CC, that Westell could be made a profitable company today if Westell had no ADSL. With Alactel being such a strong player I see no other way. With all of Westell's connections in the Telcom world, I think they could be an excellent ADSL service/installation/toubleshooting/consulting force for BA's deployment of Alcatel's DMT DSLAM.
I for one think Alcatel is going to buy out Westell anyway.
Alcatel hinted they are looking to buy a small and a medium size US company. This would give Alcatel a stronger presence in the US to help with ADSL field related issues. Sometimes it hard to look through all the gloom and doom, but their are always creative ways of turning a business around. All in my own opinion.
