>>The SCSI card they are recommending is probably an entry level card with minimal functionality.<< I'll bet you're right.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with the ASUS MoBo and the JAZ drive. You gotta love the internet. In the past I'd be setting here stewing in my juices trying to figure out how to resolve my questions and now.....like magic the answers appear. Amazing, simply amazing.

>>One issue that is sometimes problematic is cabling. You will have to find the proper cables to connect them all together. Mini SCSI connectors are becoming more common, but are not yet universal.<<

HP shows the 6200Cxi as having a 50 pin SCSI II High Density connector. IOM shows the JAZ as having 2 50 pin High Density Ultra SCSI (HD50) connectors. Would you think that the HP and the IOM connectors are the same?

>>One issue that is sometimes problematic is cabling. You will have to find the proper cables to connect them all together. Mini SCSI connectors are becoming more common, but are not yet universal. And since your MB is wide SCSI you will have to have a cable that goes from wide to narrow. I would wait to buy any cables until you have all the components.<<

I've been told: "the ASUS has 3 connectors - a 50 pin, a 68 pin and a 68 pin (U2W). It also has a cable going from internal 68 pin to an external 68 pin connector."

I'm wondering, if I have the following configuration:
the P2B-S MoBo with an IDE HDD and a couple of external SCSI devices

- am I going to have to worry about terminating the unused connectors (a 50 pin and the 68 pin (U2W)) on the MoBo?

Thanks for the URL for the SCSI cables. I'm going to go there as soon as I finish this message.

>>Sorry to ramble on,..<< My pleasure!

>>..you shouldn't have any trouble with the setup you are looking at.<< I keep telling myself this is your first time through all this and once you've gone through it all you'll wonder what all the sweating was about. Then I go back to sweating....

>>Let me know if I can help with any other questions.<< Thanks. I'll try not to drive you crazy with questions.
