AOL has the worst customer service. It seems to me that majority of AOL subscribers do not know a better ISP or they just use AOL b/c their friends/neighbors do it.
I once wrote a letter to Steve Case complaining about a billing error on my account and never got a single response. I emailed to AOL customer service and got an automated reply. I heard that AOL customer service used to be very poor, all they do is automately charge customers credit card monthly since most subscribers are men (genetically men do not complaint as much as women).

Most of my technical friends do not like to use AOL b/c they know a better ISP. I don't know about SI people. I met some SI friends using Gateway ISP and MCI. To me, customer service is more important than price and quality. If people use something b/c the trends, eventually they will get tired of it. I feel sorry for my homemaker neighbor who spends several hours a day on AOL chat room in an ugly browser. In fact when I asked her what search engineer she used, she said never hear of search engineer but it must be AOL. Then I asked what browser she's using, she also said AOL. Finally I asked her who invented the Internet, she said Microsoft.
Oh ya ya... AOL for dummie. I certainly would not buy at current price. There are lots of better stocks with good financial ratio to consider. Good luck with the long
