The World's First Ever Packet Over SONET/SDH Protocol Analyzer Now Available from RADCOM

Complete Packet over SONET/SDH Test and Management Solution at Full OC-12/STM-4 622 Mbps Speeds

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 26, 1999-- RADCOM Ltd. (NASDAQ-NM Symbol: RDCMF - news), a leading internetworking test solutions manufacturer, today announced the availability of the WireSpeed (tm) 622 Packet over SONET/SDH analyzer -- the first analyzer on the market which supports this new technology. The protocol analyzer, which operates at full OC-12/STM-4 media rates, assists in the development, installation, management and maintenance of networks and networking devices incorporating Packet over SONET technology. This product complements a previously announced solution for line-rate ATM testing at 622 Mbps.

Packet over SONET (POS) technology incorporates packet-based protocols such as IP over SONET and SDH links. As defined by IETF RFC 1619 and 1662, POS eliminates the need for ATM overhead and protocols by encapsulating packets with HDLC framing over high-speed SONET and SDH connections. POS delivers efficient, high-speed packet-based service for applications including Internet backbones, corporate intranets and router-to-router communications.

''Until now, there were no test tools available to assist in the development, installation and maintenance of these critical high-speed links,'' states Yuval S. Boger, VP Business Development at RADCOM Ltd. ''With the release of the WireSpeed(tm) 622 POS/SDH, ISPs, Carriers and Developers can greatly accelerate development and deployment of POS networks and confidently manage and maintain them''.

The WireSpeed(tm) 622 POS/SDH offers a full spectrum of test tools:

Line-rate capture and decoding of over 300 protocols, including TCP/IP, IPX, Frame Relay, PPP, HDLC, Voice over IP and H.323, to enable effective troubleshooting of link configuration parameters as well as measurement of application response times. Wire-speed analysis and statistics collection on thousands of simultaneous IP conversations, leading to better link utilization, discovery of usage patterns and network baselining.

Line-rate filtering on IP source and destination addresses, to enable the identification of specific users of interest.

Wire-speed generation of TCP/IP packets (or any pre-captured data), providing the tools to fully load the link as part of the development of the network provisioning process.

The WireSpeed(tm) 622 POS/SDH analyzer is the result of a joint development effort between RADCOM and the Boeing Company. Previously, RADCOM announced the availability of the WireSpeed(tm) 622 ATM analyzer, which uses the same hardware as the WireSpeed(tm) 622 POS/SDH and is capable of line rate analysis of OC-12/STM-4 ATM links.

''Our customers can now analyze 622 Mbps links regardless of whether they employ ATM or Packet over SONET technologies, by selecting a simple software option. As such, the WireSpeed(tm) 622 analyzer is a powerful, cost-effective solution to manage virtually any 622 link,'' added Mr. Boger.
