Compaq CEO sees DEC integration on track

NEW YORK, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp. will say the integration of its $8.4
billion acquisition of Digital Equipment has met and partially exceeded the goals Compaq set for
the business when it reports fourth-quarter results Wednesday, Compaq's chief executive said on Tuesday.

Eckhard Pfeiffer, president and CEO of Compaq, the world's largest personal computer maker, made the comments ahead of
a press conference at which Compaq will announce plans to spinoff its AltaVista Internet unit.

''We have set very ambitious goals'' for the integration of Digital into Compaq, Pfeiffer told Reuters. ''We have met and
partially exceeded those goals,'' he added.

Wall Street analysts expect the computer maker to report earnings of $0.37 per share when it announces its end of year
results Wednesday.
