AT 57 I can say that your advice is better than almost any brokers, whose main concern, is to have active accounts so they can make their living.

In these forums we have tea-leaf readers who buy & sell on their charts, some who take options on indices of the market itself. Others who buy for the long term who would never think of selling no matter what the market prospects over the next twelve months may be; intra-day traders who put their money down on their choice in the morning and try to secure their shirt in the afternoon. There are also investors who try to buy on sound earnings potential and who are conscious of the right time to buy or sell. It is not surprising that each reads your advice differently: what one considers sound may seem like nonsense to another.

I did not know your age until recently and was pleasantly surprised when I found out. I should not have been, as the basic investment principles you have re-iterated of sound fundamentals, potential eanings growth and the right timing are founded in common sense. Good traders also base their work on knowledge and skill (plus fortitude); others who chase money act irrationally with random consequences.

Keep up the good work. We need intelligent, sensible, vigorous young people.
