>>Also, let's say that I go out to 3 or 4 construction sites on a given day and shoot the equivalent of 3 or 4 "rolls of film" at each one. ...<<
OK, let's say it.
First, let's assume for one second that all that sheetrock compound dust (truly nasty stuff) won't infiltrate and corrupt the 40MB Flop! drive and disc. Then, we have the fact that ccording to the Iomega Flop! drive Owner's Manual, you must "NEVER" have the Flop! disc in the Flop! drive while moving around. This puts a serious limit on the reliabilty and usefulness of the device--unless you choose not to follow the instructions and void your warranty.
The truth is, if you choose to go the Flop! route by virtue of cost alone, you greatly increase you risk of losing EVERYTHING on a Flop! disc, and the resulting discs that are damaged by the infected Flop! drive. All that sheetrock compound dust gets into EVERYTHING-- but if you're an architect or contractor, you must already know this by now. By having to insert and remove the Flop! disc everytime you move around the site, you expose your data/pictures to the elements, including all that nasty construction dust.
Just like I said, the only people buying this thing are Iomega investors. And the supply of these certain people is extremely limited (and getting smaller all the time). BTW, good luck with your Flop! decision. Just remember to follow the Flop! Owner's Manual to a tee. I wouldn't want you to lose any of your precious data or risk voiding your warranty by having the disc inside the drive while moving around. |
