Well I have seen a number of things that lead me to believe it's true. I have seen several posts that say the IPO deal will be one share of AltaVista for each 12 of CPQ to shareholders of record but don't know the date that would apply.

That would peg AV stock at about $4. CPQ has 1737K shares so that means about 145K shares of AV to CPQ shareholders. I don't know what the whole pie looks like - if they are really looking for a $2B valuation at IPO that would be about right for total float.

Interesting that this would be a pure stock deal, pure shareholder value, nothing in the kitty for CPQ - kind of puts to rest the idea that CPQ is short of cash IMO. Plus gives me a big stake in an internet company, something I had been reluctant to do but for free I'll take it!!
