"Theory for fun and profit. They released the AV news before earnings because the number is going to be on the low side of the whispers. Without the AV announcement the stock would have dropped 5 or 6."

I find it hard to take this theory seriously (realizing that it's offered for fun). What difference would the timing of the AV announcement make over any long term price of the stock? Will the price be different in a year because of this timing? I can't belive that the CEO of a big company would bother to micro-manage the short term price of his company's stock, except maybe while executing a for stock aquisition.

We all avidly follow the day to day fluctuations in Compaq's stock price, but if their CEO does too, we ought to find a better company to invest in.

Does anyone know differently?

Steve
