N.Y.C. is much more expensive

$125/hr only gets you a pimple faced kid
who can tweek your Windows and get your
printer driver to stop crashing.

$225/hr get's you a Server saavy
System Integrator. I would not get
anybody less to touch my equipment.

If course, if you buy time blocks
or sign contracts, the cost comes
down somewhat.

Keep in mind that Server Hardware
troubleshooting must be done after
hours, when you must pay time&a'half.

My problem stemmed from ArcServe's
new Tape RAID option intermittantly
failing to join 2 DAT drives into
one backup set reliable. After
blaming the software, we finally
discovered the hardware was at
fault all along. If we had not
caught it early with this high
standards demanding problem, we
would have just had a problem
later down the road. My gripe
was mainly that Compaq's VAR
reimbursement was minimal. If
I had a Digital dweeb here doing
this, I'm sure I'd still be down.

I've had my fill of their service
with the MicroVax's I still need
to support. I use Bell Atlantic
now, since Digital was so innept
and expensive at servicing their
own equipment.
