The state lets us fish for other species before opening day though. >> You must admit this seems foolish If they[fish & game ] are serious about opening day they should not allow any fishing in trout stocked waters in between stocking and opening day. Not every body will be as honest about releasing out of season Trout as yourself. Here in CA they stock the high Sierra lakes some six {?} months before opening day. No fishing during this time. In NY season closes Oct 30. Stocking about two weeks before open. Opens April 15{?} No kill seems to be open all year. Not sure if it is legally or they just look the other way though. pez
