Not what I said The store isn't going to read the CPU ID, the software manufacturer is! What I said is that you would be REQUIRED by the software publisher to register your software over the internet for it to work, and your computer ID would be part of the information obtained during the registration. I then imagine the software company would issue a number to you interactively that is the equivalent to the one you currently have to enter from the CDROM label. That number would encrypt your computer id. You would enter that number during the software installation and NEVER BE ABLE TO RUN THAT SOFTWARE ON ANY OTHER COMPUTER AGAIN. ==================== I'm surprised that you are so naive as to not understand the basic principles of hardware keys.
