Quick II(tm) Combines Multi-Protocol Converter, Terminal Server and Router Into Single Platform
STERLING, Va--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 26, 1999-- FastComm Delivers New Class of Router-TermRouter(tm)

The new QUICK II(tm) / TermRouter(tm) manufactured by FastComm (OTC BB: FSCX - news), is now available from Unisys Corporation [NYSE:UIS - news].

The QUICK II(tm) provides a low-cost solution for users of Unisys ClearPath, A Series, and 2200 Series enterprise servers needing to integrate multi-protocol traffic into seamless single transport. ''It is three products in one; a legacy protocol converter, terminal server and a router combined into compact powerful solution on a proven platform,'' said Peter C. Madsen, president of FastComm Communications Corp.

''The inherent value of the QUICK II(tm) TermRouter(tm) is that it simply eliminates the hassle many companies have when integrating both legacy and LAN protocols into a single network. It's really a new class of router that offers a migration path to full IP networking.''

FastComm's QUICK II(tm) is targeted for Unisys protocols that require conversion into IP. The legacy native protocols supported include Unisys / Burroughs poll select, 2780 / 3780 BiSync, bit-sync, byte-sync, IPX and many others which are converted into TCP/IP packets and forwarded onto the local Ethernet LAN or transported over global X25 and / or frame relay networks.

The QUICK II(tm) offers up to 5 user interfaces, which can be any combination of either serial or WAN, for local terminals and remote host connection. Each serial port provides for attachments for a total of 100 devices such as printers, sorters, and/or terminals per port with a total of 400 sessions per unit. The QUICK II(tm) supports frame relay links with speeds up to T-1 / E-1 with a maximum of 110 DLCI's, allowing multiple remote to host connections.
