Diamond mines are made from high value large gem stones. They are not made from micro diamonds. What has been found in mining kimberlites for the past 100 years is that micro diamond counts do not correlate with the grade of commercial diamonds in a pipe. They will not predict the commercial grade. What has to be done is to recover enough rock to find the larger diamonds. Lots of pipes are awash with micros but are not commercial. Others have no micros at all just big stones, like the Premier, the richest pipe in the world in total value and tonnage. Other pipes have extremely high grade but low, low value as in the Argyle.

I will admit that this sample is very small. And the macro diamonds are average grade.. the total size of the sample should have been about 5,000 lbs. if you take the large stones only you get .871 carats per ton. BUT the distribution in the pits was very variable, a fact long suspected as the data was hidden. Is the distribution of grade even over the tons they say they have? Can you extrapolate that from the largely poor caratage micro diamond population.

It's your money.
