We need to know the whys and wherefores of the new, portal-related spending, which, by the way, is only a 3% increment to estimated 2H99 expenses. Contrary to some of the comments on the thread, it's almost a comically small amount of money, especially when you consider how much gets spent in the "portal" realm today for marketing and developing a presence. This is why I think it's purely for plumbing/connections/etc. The very bullish implication of this scenario is that Yahoo (or whomever) is saying: "Here you go, CKFR, you've won the business, hook yourselves up and be our back end". Done deal. This would explain some of the move in the stock, by the way.

The other scenario is that this is the first increment in a long string of payments to a portal JUST TO GET OUR LOGO UP. Obviously much less bullish. CKFR does not have the financial firepower to be forking over the boxcar "slotting fees" that some retailers/service providers are paying. This scenario also says to the market that CKFR really doesn't bring a lot to the table vis a vis E-commerce, and therefore must get in line with all the others to flush money down the portals.

So my first question tomorrow will not be "Who?" but "How much($) and for how long?"
