If you want to see how much Internet companies stand to lose in revenues if you use software to block their ads, take a look at doubleclick.net . Multiply those rates by millions of hits per day, and you get some idea.

The term they use is CPM which is the price per thousand times an ad is shown. The example is for ads on the Altavista search engine (http://www.altavista.com/). These prices range from 0.2 cents each time a simple text link is shown to 7 cents each time a a banner ad is shown during a keyword search.

The original message that tells you where to get this software for blocking Internet ads is at Message 7445046 .
