Mr. Bones -
>Does this include installation & modem purchase or rental?
I believe it includes the rental of the modem, but installation was somewhere around $100. About the same for DSL installation if I recall correctly. I'm sure different areas will do it differently. In the future, you'll probably see a lot of "installation for $5"-type ads that cable cos. are famous for (act now at get free HBO for a month!).
>Don't discount the "always on" connection that DSL & cable both offer.
I definitely agree with you here, but it will be another year or two, before this really becomes a necessity. Streaming video/voice/data will be the future of the net, I think, and this is where you would like the "always on" aspect. For now tho', the average user (aol'er) just chats, surfs, and checks their mail, nothing too stressful on a connection.
Kinda OT - For surfing at home, you might try turning "auto-load images" off in netscape or IE. I surf like this at home since I'm normally looking for info and not pictures (it does make charting a pain tho). I generally see about a 0-2sec loading time difference in T1 at work vs X2 at home with this setup.
>For that matter, does anyone know what MSPG's >KNOLOGY offering is? Again, I thought it was two-way cable.
I'm pretty sure it is/was.
Let me also just echo Jinx3D's feeling of ITC control. Heck, I even moved states and I'm *still* working for a company owned by them! Just when I think I'm out, they keep pulling me back in... *g*
