Konrad,

Historically speaking, foreign $$$ (actually cleaner money possibility) usually heralded a major market top. But, this time around, a lot of things are different; many of the old indices measuring market valuation are no longer valid, ie. dividend yield, GDP vs total market cap, etc.

The market is now principally driven by liquidity (baby boomers and forthcoming (?) Social Security $$, etc. The global characterstics and technology advances have rendered US economoy (or other economies) much less cyclical in nature. That is why I think using the past to predict the future (as some T/A folks do with blind passion) is totally ridiculous.

A closing comment: I have done well with both INTC and INTW (held the former for 7 yrs with 15x gain and the latter 2 yrs with 10x gain). Speaking for myself strictly, I do not need nor want protection/insurance for my Intel shares or profits. I keep a close watch on the stock's fundamentals, and so far see no signs of deterioration. That is good enough for me as a long-term investor. At least for the foreseable future, we (Intel and I) are together for better or for worse--that is more faith than I see in another institution. <g>
