VRIO* out at 27 .. MTP beats estimates.. nice company went long yesterday.. Long MKG (another watch list alternate. been watching here for a reversal for a few weeks. It beat estimates very fine company. [Maalinckrodt Inc. Posts $0.49 2Q EPS vs. $0.27 Loss] will look for a position hold here or short term play)Don't expect to see a good chart here, I was expecting a profitable quarter after an unprofitable quarter last year. Those are some of the potentially good plays. I didn't expect it to gap up and it didn't. Target is 40.
Next in this type of play I'm eyeing WEC (Wisconsin Energy).. everything in your portfolio doesn't have to be hi - flying internet stocks you should have a balance. and this is NOT my trading portfolio but my intermediate portfolio

MTP... Power Reports Record Annual Earnings:
$2.95

BUTTE, Mont., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Montana Power Company (NYSE: MTP - news) reported record consolidated
net income of $2.95 per share for the year ended December 31, 1998 -- an increase of 66 cents or 29 percent over 1997
earnings of $2.29 per share. Fourth-quarter earnings in 1998 were $1.26 per share, compared to 93 cents a share in the same
quarter of 1997.

''Our financial performance in 1998 reflects the nonutility business successes we are having, which significantly offset the
short-term impacts of utility deregulation and very weak oil and gas prices,'' said Robert P. Gannon, chairman, president and
chief executive officer. ''Our independent power and telecommunications businesses provided a significant increase in both our
fourth-quarter and annual earnings. In addition to the impact of deregulation, utility operations also were affected by weather
that was 6 percent warmer than normal.''

Montana Power's consolidated revenues for 1998 were $1.25 billion compared to $1.02 billion in 1997. Net income available
for common stock was $161.9 million compared to $124.9 million the preceding year

*..I couldn't take it any more. I'll get back in when it turns. Like nursing someone with a chronic illness that just doesn't seem to go away. Something is not right with this stock lately and although it was up a point in the morning it lost it.
