You already know that I don't believe in literal translation of the Bible. You already know that I am not Christian. You already know that I I don't hold it against anyone who is. If you want to worship Christ, My only desire is that bring you everything you seek.

My post had one intent, and only one intent.To point out the rational
cnclusion to the argument Bob was using. Slavery was more than a convienent method of paying off one's debt. It was far more heinous than just a preferred alternative to debtor's prison.

If you believe those passages of the Bible to be God's inerrant word,
(which I don't, but which it is your absolute right to believe)than it is Bob's logic that makes a mockery of God's words. Personally, I think the idea of sex with a slave is abhorrent. If you choose to believe that God thinks it is okay under certain circumstances, that is your right. Just as it is my right to respectfully disagree.
