Though the emphasis was on the physical strength of the opponents, no less important was the element of mental process during the contest.
. . . . On the chess board, the mental element is accentuated with no less the same intensity as that of the ancient spectator battles. Sometimes they are quick kill games, but more often than not, they are a series of small battles between two minds, jousting with strategy and chance to ultimatly win a war.
. . . . There must be a winner and a loser, not withstanding a draw, a rarity. Yet it is not the credit or the debit which is most important, for it is only a game, and a game should be for fun.
