Bob,
Ross is a top notch CPU designer, this is big league stuff. Can they design a killer chip, yes. Can they do it in a timely manner, they better because it's all they've got. To answer your other question Ross makes chips to Sparc compliant architecture, 64-bit would be V-9 vs V-8. More important is whether they move from M-bus technogy.
