Lee:Here is an interesting comment by McDonough of Federal Reserve,NY. Wednesday January 27, 4:22 pm Eastern Time Analysts may raise U.S. growth forecasts-McDonough WASHINGTON, Jan 27 (Reuters) - William McDonough, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, said on Wednesday that private economists were likely to upwardly revise their growth forecasts for the current year after the economy got off to a strong start. ''The consensus forecast is about 2.5 percent and I think as we enter 1999 as strong as we (were) in the last quarter of last year -- which was very powerful -- I think most people will be inching up their forecasts,'' he told reporters after addressing the Conference of Mayors winter meeting. Asked about his own forecast, he said: ''I never give my own forecast.''
