M., -they are using larger caches to provide the bandwidth the simulation stdies will show if the bandwidth is adequate A larger cache does almost nothing to improve bandwidth. It only increases the hit rate. The bandwidth is determined by the amount of data which can be moved in/out of the cache per clock, and is a function of the datapath. nobody will make those design decisions without a good simulator of the arch. I would love to comment in detail about this, but one of my basic SI tenets is to not discuss any projects I have worked on. Let's just say, I disagree "strongly" with your assertion. Scumbria
