FRANKLIN INKS DEAL WITH WEBTV
Westlake Village, CA.> Franklin Telecom announced today that FNet, its Internet Division, has signed an agreement with WebTV Networks Inc. to offer Internet access using FNet's Internet Service Provider capabilities. FNet will also be able to offer a unique package of hardware and communications capabilities to WebTV Networks and its Internet Service Providers.
According Franklin's President & CEO, Frank Peters, "We have been working with WebTV for the last 30 days defining the agreement and testing the technology. This agreement with WebTV is unique in that it is totally pointed toward developing new markets rather than competing for market share."
WebTV Networks is the developer of the WebTV Reference Design and WebTV Network's online service that delivers the Internet through television. WebTV Internet Terminal units are currently available through WebTV's licensees, Sony Electronics Inc. and Philips Consumer Electronics Company, at consumer electronics stores nationwide.
