New Chairman at Repap Enterprises

STAMFORD, CT. Jan. 27 /CNW-PRN/ - Repap Enterprises Inc. today announced that Mr. Steven Berg, President of Bishopsgate Financial Corp., will replace Mr. William Anderson as Chairman of the Board.

In commenting on his appointment, Mr. Berg said: ''I look forward to working with Repap's Board and management team. The Company has first rate management, a first rate facility, adequate timber resources and a significant share of the North American lightweight coated paper market.''

Mr. Stephen Larson, who will continue in his position as President and CEO of the Corporation said: ''I would like to thank our departing Chairman, Mr. Anderson, who has guided us through the past 18 months. I and my management team look forward to working with Mr. Berg in our continuing efforts to bring value to our shareholders.''

Repap Enterprises Inc. is a major producer of lightweight coated groundwood paper with 9% of North American capacity. This high quality paper is utilized in magazines, catalogs, inserts and commercial printing applications. The Company's world-class coated paper complex in New Brunswick has two modern paper machines with an annual capacity of 492,000 tons, a northern bleached softwood kraft pulp mill with an annual capacity of 235,000 metric tons, an integrated groundwood pulp mill with an annual capacity of 123,000 metric tons and lumber operations with an annual capacity of 58 million foot board measure.
