A computer, a modem (14.4 Kbps or faster) and internet software, such as The Internet Starter Kit (available from Franklin interNet).

Franklin offers a 7 day money back guarantee for personal accounts, and a 30 day full refund guarantee for business accounts. Try us! If you don't like our service, we will credit your account for the full amount.
Q: What form would my Internet E-Mail address take, would it be easy to remember?
Your E-Mail address would be your name@ftel.net. For example: 'yourname@ftel.net'. You also have the option of registering a domain name and requesting us to host your domain name for E-Mail. Your E-Mail address then becomes 'yourname@yourdomain.com'. This is especially suitable for people who send and receive E-Mail with a business identity.
Q: Can I choose and change my password on my own?
You may choose your password and change it as often as you like
Q: Does Franklin interNet offer 28.8 connection speed at all times?
Franklin offers 28.8 PPP and all other services around the clock.
Q: How many concurrent users can Franklin interNet handle at once?
Franklin interNet performs weekly audits of our systems with regard to performance and availability. Our 'user to port' ratio will assure that there are always telephone lines and bandwidth available. As our customer base grows, we will expand our systems again to accommodate the new customers.
Q: Does Franklin interNet provide any options for Internet access if traveling outside my usual local area?
Franklin interNetFranklin interNet is currently evaluating a national calling area which would enable users traveling outside their normal area to still access the network. The results of this evaluation will be announced shortly. In the interim, our ISDN, RF Wireless and Frame Relay users have access to the internet via our modem pool in Westlake Village. Furthermore, if you have a CompuServe account you may now make a PPP connection to the internet (for an modest hourly charge) from most major cities in the U.S. and in Western Europe. This will allow you access to reach our mail server and web server machines as if you were dialing from your home or business.
Q: Does my Franklin interNetFranklin interNet account include any storage on the Franklin interNet host computer?
Your account with Franklin interNet includes 10MB of storage on a continuous basis included in the basic subscription rate. Storage beyond 10 MB (b=bits, B=Bytes) is available for temporary use for file transfers and intermediate storage. You will not be charged for storage if your average usage is less than 10 MB.
Q: Can Franklin interNet help with Web site creation?
Frankin interNet has relationships with several web authors local to our service areas. We will be pleased to provide you with a free consultation with a web author that specializes in the type of web page you require.
Q: How much does Franklin interNet charge for Web site consultation, design and hosting?
Franklin interNet offers free initial consultation to business clients requiring internet connectivity and/or web page design and hosting. If you have an interest and need more information, simply place a call to our sales department to schedule an appointment.
Q: Is there a time limit on Franklin interNet service for my basic monthly rate?
Franklin interNet provides unlimited internet access to all of our subscribers within the terms of our Service Agreement.
Q: Does Franklin interNet provide technical support and is there a charge?
Franklin interNet provides technical support for personal accounts from 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday, at no charge. Technical support for business accounts is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at no charge.
Q: Does Franklin interNet offer a discount for payment in advance?
Pay for one year in advance and Franklin interNet will give you a 10% discount.
Q: Does Franklin interNet provide any internet software?
Franklin interNet offers the Internet Starter Kit for Macintosh, Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. This Kit includes software required to access the internet along with a book with step by step instructions. Franklin interNet is offering these kits for $30 each.
Q: Does Franklin interNet provide high speed access?
Franklin offers: ISDN, Frame Relay and high speed RF Wireless. Check our web page for prices or call us for a quote.
Q: What is Franklin interNet 's coverage area?
Franklin interNet offers local calling from Camarillo to Glendale. Please check our web page to see if your telephone prefix is within our local calling area. We update our prefix list as we add POPs, so check back often if you were not a local call initially.
Q: Does Franklin interNet block or otherwise restrict access to any controversial material?
Franklin interNet does not currently restrict access to any specific material.
Q: Does Franklin interNet have a written policy about it's practices?
Franklin interNet has published on it's web page the Franklin Service Agreement outlining its terms and conditions. Franklin also has on file an Acceptable Use Policy.
Q: How many Newsgroups does Franklin interNet carry?
Franklin interNet carries all newsgroups.
Q: How long does Franklin interNet store news?
Franklin interNet stores news for 2 days. (This needs to be changed to 14 days)
Q: Does Franklin interNet have any protection against viruses and security issues?
Only authenicated users are given access to our systems.Our engineers regularly review security measures which afford a great deal of protection to Franklin interNet and our users. Of course, as with any system, safe computing is the responsibility of the user. Users are advised to take adequate precautions to protect their own systems. This includes, but is not limited to: virus protection for E-Mail receipt and file transfer. Futhermore, if a customer attempts any malicious activity on our systems, we will immediately suspend all accounts associated with that user.
Q: What information can Franklin interNet provide me about my account, ie: hits, EMail address, demographics, etc.?
Franklin interNet is in the process of preparing detailed reporting capabilities for web site demographics. These capabilities are planned for implementation during mid-summer 1996.
Q: Does Franklin interNet offer dedicated connections?
Franklin does offer dedicated connections inthe form of Frame Relay, RF Wireless and 'nailed' ISDN. Please refer to our price list for details or give us a call.
Q: Can Franklin interNet help obtain a domain name, if so what is the charge?
Franklin interNet will be pleased to submit your domain name registration at no additional charge to you. There is a charge of $100 which is payable directly to the InterNic for the first two year period of domain registration. The internic will also charge a renewal fee beyond the first two years. Franklin interNet does not pay this fee, nor do we act as an agent for you. You will be billed directly by the internic, and you will lose your registered domain name if you fail to pay the registration fees when invoiced by the internic.
Q: Can Franklin interNet help get a business set-up on the Web?
Franklin interNet Franklin interNet is focused on providing business services. We've been in business for 17 years, so we understand what it takes to do business. We built our internet business with business customers as the model.
Q: Are there any limits on a business account as to content, use, or the number of customer hits?
Franklin interNet does not dictate content, but in rare cases we may be required to quote the Telecommunications Act of 1996. We do not 'meter' the web pages for usage. We support our customers and encourage activity on their web sites.

Q: Does Franklin interNet charge a set-up fee?
Franklin interNetUnfortunately, we must charge a setup fee for all new accounts. This is necessary because a substantial amount of work must be done on our end when setting up new customers. In most cases, our setup fee is equal to one month's service.

Yes, Franklin interNet is pleased to provide business references of our ISDN, Frame Relay and Wireless customers. Site visits can be scheduled through our sales department. Just give us a call.
