Robert - Re:"K5, K6 7 K7 Design Teams

The Original K5 & K6 design teams were in Austin, Texas.

When the NexGEN merger took place, the K6 design team in Austin was disbanded. The K5 folks were left to clean up K5 problems. The related 29000 Risc Team members (from which the K5/K6 design came) were also disbanded as AMD exited the 29000 RISC business.

The NEXGen NX686 design bvecame the basis of the NEW K6 , with new modifications such as Pentium pin-out instead of the NexGEN proprietary pin out (with direct L2 cache data/addressing).

I believe during Christmas, 1996, most of the remaining original K6/Austin team got their final Christmas bonus (and paycheck) from AMD - they were laid off.

The new K7 team is in Silicon Valley, made up primarily by former NexGEN engineers.
