Thank you Len for your reply, Yes, I agree IBM is a leader in voice recognition, but I go back to my previous point, unless the concept of the "computer is the network" catches on, IBM will have to sell voice recognition along with an Intel Inside MMX tm PC. Which company makes the higher profit margin from the sale?
However, that being said, does voice recognition offset the fact that IBM's fastest growing segment of their business comes from their Services Division? This Division is their most labor intensive, suseptable to labor inflation, and probably already at low inelastic profit margins.
Marks B. as to your comments. I think IBM's announced split last week was possibly the only thing that delayed the stock from tanking. I was so happy to see, as has been pointed out on this thread before, that Intel seemed to successfully separate itself from Wall Streets perception of IBM.
Mark you seem to be forgetting that INTC also announced a stock split of their own, pending stockholder's approval in May. Jules |
