Michael, according to the instructions you needn't mention the rebate until the last thing before signing the deal. I had the same skeptical reaction you did, and was surprised when I checked the fine print. Another thing is that I'll likely be using a buying service through my husband's employer so I pretty much get a fixed discount price on any vehicles I buy.
