DVD-RAM disks use a different format then CD-RW disks. DVD-RAM disks can be overwritten directly like a hard drive where CD-RW disks need software. CD-RW disks can only be read in a DVD-RAM drive not rewritten. As for the loophole on CD-RW disks, ECD still claims that CD-RW disks are infringing on their patents and they are working with the manufactures to resolve the matter. We are not recieving any royalties on CD-RW disks to date because none of the current manufactures who are licensed are producing them, they are purchasing them from the munufactures who are not and selling them.
