No, there was nothing to drive the price to $40. The question was "when will the price split". The answer was that in the past it was not split until it reached at least $40 cdn and given the Americans' preference for more expensive stocks and since the stock was now traded on NYSE, that the stock may not be split until the price reached a higher value than that (no estimate of what that price would have to be to satisfy US investors)
