IBS Interactive Selects Covad Communications to Provide DSL-Based Services for
High-Speed Internet Access [in NY City]

Thanks to Mark Lewin, from the COVAD Thread

CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 1999--IBS Interactive, Inc.
(Nasdaq:IBSX), a turnkey solutions provider of Internet development, Internet
connectivity, and Systems and Integration services, today announced it has selected
Covad Communications Company, an operating subsidiary of Covad Communications
Group, Inc., to deliver Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)-based services to businesses in
the New York City area.

''The working relationship with Covad represents a significant achievement for IBS. It
provides us with entry into the Digital Subscriber Line industry and expands our
presence in the New York City marketplace,'' said Frank Altieri, chief information
officer of IBS Interactive. ''By offering Digital Subscriber Line services, our clients will
have the ability to cost-effectively access the Internet at speeds up to 25 times faster
than a 56Kbps modem.''

IBS Interactive will offer Covad's TeleSpeed® service to businesses in all five boroughs
of New York City beginning immediately. DSL provides continuous access to the
Internet, the same as a leased line, but at a significant cost savings, making it an ideal
alternative for small and medium sized businesses. The service runs across an existing
copper wiring infrastructure.

George Holland, president and general manager of Covad's Tri-State Region,
commented, ''Covad Communications has always formed working relationships with
companies that have a sound business and strong commitment to customer service. We
believe that IBS Interactive has the relationships, the expertise and the strategy to help
deliver the TeleSpeed service to the growing Internet community in the New York City
area.''

Mr. Altieri concluded, ''As the Internet becomes a more popular medium to transact
business, IBS will continue to develop relationships that deliver the security, value and
service that our clients have come to expect.''

IBS Interactive provides comprehensive, cost-effective information technology solutions
to businesses and organizations with systems development and maintenance needs.
Services are designed to enable companies to operate more efficiently by outsourcing
their Internet functions, computer networking, maintenance, and technical support. IBS
offers Internet Development, Internet Services and Systems and Integration services.
Internet Development services include web programming, database development and
distance learning. Internet services include web-site hosting, leased line services and
dial-up and e-mail access. Systems and integration services include network design,
implementation and support.
