ACTI nice news looks to be moving.
WEBAccess Announces Launch of New E-commerce Site WEBAccess.com
Business Wire - January 28, 1999 11:00
FORT COLLINS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 28, 1999--WEBAccess, a wholly owned subsidiary of Applied Computer Technology Inc., (OTC BB:ACTI) announced its plans to launch a regional, community oriented e-commerce site.

This site is slated for 'opening' late 1st Quarter.

The site, WEBAccess.com, will be the community and e-commerce related component of WEBAccess, Inc. WEBAccess presently provides dial-up and dedicated internet connections to regional members as well as offering hosting services. WEBAccess.com is being developed as a regional e-commerce community.

"We believe that a regional community website like WEBAccess.com holds special appeal in that local businesses are more in tune with the needs of their regional consumer base. Large electronic community sites such as TheGlobe.com (NASDAQ:TGLO) have been successful in bringing national merchants together into Electronic Commerce Centers.

But these cookie cutter e-commerce sites do not take into consideration the unique opportunities and desires of a local market. A local market opens up opportunities such as offerings by regional service companies as well as 'members only' discounts and promotions," stated Bud Prentice, President of Applied Computer Technology.

Prentice continued, "Companies such as Zoom (NASDAQ:XMCM), GeoCities (NASDAQ:GCTY), and Go2Net (NASDAQ:GNET) have developed strong electronic communities for their members. WEBAccess will develop similar communities, but on a regional level. And, whereas the actual electronic commerce aspects of the above named sites are sometimes secondary concerns to members, WEBAccess.com intends to actively promote valuable 'members only' promotions and discounts to its members."

Prentice continued, "Additionally, we have seen that many companies will try to establish a presence on the Internet and will get lost with the millions of other companies out there. We can increase traffic and visibility for our participating business by actively promoting the site to the WEBAccess buying consortium at WEBAccess.net. We believe that we are filling a niche that has been significantly lacking in the local Internet markets up to this point. It is our goal at WEBAccess to make this an extremely successful entity in our business and then to use this model to continue to set up additional local community sites."

Applied Computer Technology is a Colorado-based service provider with emphasis on networking, service and Internet connectivity. WEBAccess, Inc. is a Colorado based Internet Services Provider providing dial-up and dedicated access services as well as hosting services in Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs and Boulder.
