Ray--

I think I'll stand by my assertion of "excellence" of the Barrons article. They shine the light on rechargeable (secondary) batteries which the US big 3 attery producers have been loathe to do. The article underscores how much of a "science project" LiPoly still is. Meanwhile, as Tom Hoff posted here we are ramping to 3 vehicle packs per day. Thats 22,500 kilowatt hours per year. Add that to 600mm ++ consumer cylindrical NiMh cells being produced and you understand that we are out of "science project" land. meanwhile you have Don Devlin pawing the ground to fit his EV1 with NIMH so he can go drag racing with Jack Nicholson, i.e., more demand on the way.

Since you are a student of LiPoly you know about the Sony fires in Japan, the Ultralife fires in each of their plants, the hubub of the airlines vs. their insurers about recharging LITHIUM batteries in flight, the burning of the Apple Powerbook and much much more.

Perhaps I was too sarcastic when I said the Barron's article was excellent. I think it makes our safe IN VOLUME PRODUCTION nimh look great.
