Looks like a shakeout!!! Buying under $8!!!

here is a news story from someone on RagingBull who lives in Idaho:

News story front page of business section, Idaho Statesman - great coverage - story by Marcelene Edwards

I don't have an electronic version of this story to cut and paste so I will just try to provide some of the highlights.

Large type headline at top of page, "Cheaper Net service on the way". Subtitle, "Merger will affect wireless connections"

Some highlights from the article:

....CyberHighway has been charging business customers a $2,795 setup fee for wireless service. Residential customers pay $1200. Monthly access charges are extra. With Internet Media's technology, CyberHighway's business setup fees will drop to $600 --- a decrease of 79 percent. Residential fees will fall to about $400, down 67 percent....

...at least 35 times faster than 56kbps modem speeds. A document that might take about two minutes to download via a 56kbps moden should arrive in 8 seconds with wireless technology. Only two companies in the Boise area offer wireless service --- Cyberhighway, which will adopt the Internet Media technology, and Micron Internet Services. Micron Internet officials declined to comment for this story...

....The setup fee for Boise-based Micron Internet's wireless service is about $500. It's service allows users to download information via wireless microwaves. But they must upload information over a telephone line....

...CyberHighway plans to expand to other states, including California and New Mexico. And it expects to double the number of employees in Boise from 30 to 60 in the next year...

GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!
