Yes, but it was a god that allowed multiple wives, concubines, sex slaves and getting away with murder -- as long as it was approved first.

As for "as many as the stars in the sky..." did Abram have 6,000 children? For isn't that the approximate number of stars a human can see with the unaided eye? (At least in the northern hemisphere.)
