I do not know how many dollars they had in gift certificates. Gift certificates show up as sales when redeemed. That may be a large factor.

Thanks, Glenn. That's very helpful. I had raised that possibility on the YHOO thread, and someone came back with a "no" answer to that. They (hg) said that redeemed gift certificates could be balanced against decreased inventories. Which I don't understand, but I'm still not very versed in many of these business concepts. Can you elaborate at all?
