How did you get into DOS? If you've edited autoexec.bat
yourself, or if you're booting from a floppy, you have to put
in the path.

I booted to w98 from a floppy with command.com on it. Then I restarted into MS DOS, where I have remained.

Navigate to the dos directory

My dos directory is C:\windows\command. Lots of command files there but no exit or help. cd exit & cd help both = Invalid Directory.

C:\>SET PATH c:\; C:\windows\command comes up with Syntax error.

If there is no exit command in the command directory now, I must have done something to delete it since I was able to use the exit command yesterday at some point.
