Jim,
No, I didn't see the 50 Years War--I wish that there some way of knowing when something really valuable was going to be on and that I'd be organized enough to tape it. At least now I can watch for it. Hopefully it will be shown again.

Our news media--our entire culture-- seems to speak in soundbytes. No one has time for whole stories, for details, for nuances, for leisurely descriptive strolls along paragraphs painted with interesting verbal combinations. Some of us here were lonely word lovers looking for a home, and in looking for others who would pause long enough to listen to a fully formed--or maybe not so fully-formed, but certainly differently espressed- thought, we happened upon-- each other! THe sweetest thing about DARians I think, is that they are generous to a fault. THere is a lot of rejoicing for and appreciation of each others' triumphs and talents. I think this is a gentle place.

I noticed last night in bed that Dan was reading The Perfect Storm!
