Folks aren't going to hedge their shares through a short transaction at $8 if the stock is going higher. There is no gaurantee of the stock going higher. By shorting the hell out of the stock, there is a 100% gaurantee of driving it down. Like Christian said, this is riskless arbitrage for the convert holders. Something you will soon learn. x
